Kurt Angle gave the wrestling community an update with regards to his contract status this week, telling Ring Rust Radio that he will sign a new deal somewhere within the next two weeks.
Where that will be remains unclear with Angle reluctant to reveal too much details about his future plans, but his words do seem to suggest his time in TNA is coming to an end:
"Well right now I'm not at liberty to say where I'm going but I will tell you I'm going to do the right thing for me and my family. I am in the process of structuring a deal and I do have a company in mind. I haven't said yes because I want to make it a public thing with the company and myself,' Angle told the Radio Station.
The Olympic gold medalist did however offer a time line for when an announcement could be expected:
"I can't really say who it is or where I'm going but I can tell you it's going to happen in the next two weeks before my contract is even up. I won't be wrestling until January but there will be a signing in the next couple of weeks."
Angle has made no secret of his desire to return to the WWE in recent times, even going as far as to contact both Triple H and Vince McMahon directly in a bid to convince the WWE hierarchy to offer him a way back from TNA exile. But after the WWE hierarchy seemingly turned down the offer of bringing back the popular, but at times controversial, wrestler into the fold Angle's future is anyone's guess at present.
Speaking in the same interview however Kurt Angle had no qualms about the role WWE, and Vince McMahon in particular, played in helping his career blossom:
"I can't say I'm a TNA guy obviously. WWE is where I started and Vince McMahon made me who I am and gave me the opportunity but I've had a better career in TNA," said the veteran.
Angle was made TNA's director of wrestling operations as recently as June but with the company itself in the midst of some trouble finding themselves a new television deal it is unlikely the superstar will re-sign when his current deal expires on the 21st.
Having said that if Angle is not going to link up with either TNA or WWE then there isn't really a legitimate promotion out there to house s tar of Angle's stature.
That announcement cannot come soon enough - to end the speculation if nothing else.
