Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their alleged pursuit of Martin Odegaard after comments from the Norwegian starlet's father intimate the player is not looking to move abroad just yet. (CNN International)
The 15-year-old attacking midfielder became his country's youngest ever player after making his international debut against the United Arab Emirates last month, and has attracted widespread interest from a host of top European clubs.
Odegaard has been likened to Lionel Messi in his homeland which has already placed inevitable pressure on the talented teenager, and his dad is keen for his son to take a step back and not get caught up in the media frenzy.
Liverpool have also been mooted as admirers of the player - who is a confirmed Anfield supporter - but they are no more likely than Manchester United at this stage to secure Odegaard's signature.
Louis van Gaal and Brendan Rodgers will continue to monitor his development though, with a lucrative move to the Premier League remaining possible in the future.
