Manchester United have invited Feyenoord teenager Tahith Chong to training in an attempt to persuade him to join the club.
This has been reported by the Daily Mail, who have suggested that United want to take a closer look at the midfielder who can also play as a forward.
It appears, then, that Manchester United want to continue their fine tradition of implementing youth into the first team, despite having spent over £150 million in this past transfer window.
The Red Devils have already landed 16-year-old Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Dutch outfit Ajax, whilst the same report has also suggested that the club are interested in landing Martin Odegaard from Stromsgodset.
And, despite having landed some of the elite names in world football, youngster Tyler Blackett has been a key figure in the United team under Van Gaal so far this season. As well as Blackett, Adnan Januzaj has once again been handed opportunities to shine, with many expecting that James Wilson will feature throughout the course of the campaign.
It remains to be seen, however, as to whether United can persuade Chong to join them in the near future. With a fine scoring record at youth level, the teenager looks set for an exceptional career in the game, and his versatility may well help him as he goes in search of success in the coming years.
For now, though, Louis van Gaal will be in good spirits following his side's 4-0 demolition of Premier League new-boys QPR yesterday afternoon. The Red Devils secured their first competitive win under Van Gaal, and will now be hoping to find consistent form as they look to climb the league table.
Manchester United are next in action at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, as Van Gaal looks to gain a first away win of the campaign. United fans will be hoping the likes of Angel di Maria, Wayne Rooney and Co. produce another fine attacking display. Radamel Falcao could make his first start for the club after making his debut yesterday afternoon.
United could also hand youngster Luke Shaw his debut this weekend, with the likes of Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera and Daley Blind hoping to star once again.
