Manchester United are the favourites to sign Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul in the January transfer window.
Oddsmakers Paddy Power have Manchester United as 3/1 favourites to sign the Dutch international, with Juventus, Napoli and Atletico Madrid the other main contenders.
Krul, who has been with Newcastle since 2006, has been linked with a move away and the club's poor form is unlikely to provide much motivation to stay.
Poor Newcastle form
Embattled boss Alan Pardew watched his side slump to a 4-0 defeat away to Southampton last week, leaving Newcastle rooted to the bottom of the table.
Krul has been one of the most consistent keepers in the Premier League since replacing Shay Given as number one on a regular basis in 2011. But Newcastle's plight has led to speculation linking him with a move away.
United need competition
With Anders Lindegaard unlikely to stay at Manchester United much longer after admitting he wants first-team football earlier this summer, United will be looking for competition for established first choice David De Gea.
The Spaniard has been brilliant since joining the club from Atletico Madrid, and there is little prospect of him being replaced in the starting lineup under new boss Louis van Gaal.
But United need competition for places to get back into the Champions League, and assuming they do so this season, they will need a solid back-up keeper to stand in for De Gea in cup games.
That's where Krul could come in.
Man United transfer news
Van Gaal has been linked with a number of Dutch internationals since taking charge at Old Trafford, having been Netherlands boss prior to his appointment.
Kevin Strootman is a primary target, while Danny Blind joined from Ajax just before the close of the summer window.
