Chelsea and Liverpool are set to go head-to-head in a bid to bring German teenager Julian Brandt to the Premier League.
This has been reported by the Mirror, who have suggested that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has already made a personal check on the 18-year-old over a move to Anfield.
However, Chelsea are also in the race to land his signature, with both clubs having sent scouts to watch him in the Bundesliga at Bayer Leverkusen in recent time.
It's not surprising that both Liverpool and Chelsea are looking at bringing the youngster to their clubs in the near future. After all, despite being just 18-years-old, he's already rated as one of the top prospects in Germany's elite division.
Great going forward, Brandt posses fine ability on the ball and has an eye for goal. The youngster has already got off the mark this season after scoring against Hertha in the Bundesliga last month, and will be hoping to improve further throughout the campaign.
It remains to be seen, however, as to whether the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool step up their interest in the youngster in the near future, with the two clubs seemingly planning for the long term.
Both sides were in action in mid-week, with Jose Mourinho's side only managing to secure a point against German outfit Schalke last night, whilst Liverpool edged Ludogorets at Anfield on Tuesday.
For now, though, Chelsea and Liverpool will turn their attentions on this weekend's Premier League fixtures. Jose Mourinho's side will be looking to secure their fifth straight win in England's elite division with a victory at the Etihad Stadium against fellow title rivals Manchester City.
Liverpool, meanwhile, will be hoping to bounce back in the Premier League after a defeat against Aston Villa last weekend. It won't be an easy task for Rodgers and Co. however, with the Reds set to take on West Ham United at Upton Park.
Rodgers' side are already playing major catch up on Chelsea, with the club already six points behind Mourinho's side after just four fixtures played this term.
