Chelsea drew 1-1 against FC Schalke on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge in their Champions League Group G opening match.
An 11-minute right footed shot from Chelsea new recruit Cecs Fabregas put the Blues in front early in the first-half, but the Germans held them to the very end after Klaas-Jan Huntelaar equalised just after the hour mark with a powerful strike from outside the box that found the left-bottom corner of the net.
It was end-to-end stuff at Stamford Bridge in a classic Champions League night, with 13 attempts for the Germans and only two more for Chelsea.
The home side, however, will see this as an opportunity missed as they strived to begin the campaign with the maximum three points.
Although they have endured a poor start in the Bundesliga, Schalke really impressed, but Chelsea could have done better if top signing Diego Costa would have started.
