Chelsea drew 1-1 against FC Schalke on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge in their Champions League Group G opening match.

An 11-minute right footed shot from Chelsea new recruit Cecs Fabregas put the Blues in front early in the first-half, but the Germans held them to the very end after Klaas-Jan Huntelaar equalised just after the hour mark with a powerful strike from outside the box that found the left-bottom corner of the net.

The home side, however, will see this as an opportunity missed as they strived to begin the campaign with the maximum three points.
