With their squad full of star names and a trophy cabinet that expects to be replenished at least once a season, it's easy to forget Manchester City are embarking on only their fourth season in the Champions League.
To put that into context, Arsenal are enjoying their 17th consecutive season among Europe's elite, and when they were entering the competition for a fourth time way back in 2001/2002, City were a second-tier side.
Now, back in 2014, Manuel Pellegrini's side are expected to progress to the latter stages of the Champions League and compete with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and last night's opponents Bayern Munich.
