Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has blasted his side's defending for Chelsea's opening goal in last night's 1-1 Champions League draw at Stamford Bridge. (

The Holland international warned his team-mates to avoid such schoolboy errors in the future after Max Meyer was dispossessed inside his own half in the build-up to Cesc Fabregas's strike.

"We did a great job, especially in the second half. We were a bit insecure in the first half, though, and conceded a stupid goal," he explained.

"It was similar to last season. We need to stop that, because if not we give away easy goals. But we managed to make up for that well. We fought and ran a lot, and when we got the chance to score, we took it."

Huntelaar also offered praise for the way in which the Germans fought back to salvage a point from their opening game in Group G, with the prolific marksman netting the equaliser himself.
