Night of Champions descends upon the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Tennessee on Sunday night and boasts some of the most anticipated rematches of the year.
Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns - Singles match
A match that first happened Monday Night on Raw will happen again Sunday night in what is thought to be a highly anticipated re-match between the former team mates.
Dean Ambrose is likely to play a main role in the proceedings as he makes his return after being taken out by Seth a few weeks ago. The match itself would be a lot more exciting if the two hadn't clashed earlier in the week, but I still feel Roman Reigns will come out on top in this one.
Lead WWE writer Raza Kazi thinks along the same lines, firstly, it made no sense whatsoever to have Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins go one on one earlier this week on Raw; a match of this stature between two superstars who were part of one of the greatest factions in recent years needs to have build-up which excites the mans, so their eventual match is highly anticipating. There was so much potential for this match as the build-up to it has been fantastic thus far, such as the vicious beat down on Reigns last week on Raw. I still think this match has the ability to be one of the more memorable matches of the night, the pressure will be on Reigns to impress and Rollins to carry Reigns in this match. Still, a very difficult match to call down the middle as both could realistically walk out as a winner - but I believe Roman Reigns will walk out as the winner as the WWE are still pushing him right to the top. However, all eyes will be around the arena to see whether a certain Dean Ambrose will return.
Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton - Singles Match
A match that seems to have come from nothing as the two have managed to build up a small feud over the past few days but since this will be Jericho's final match on his WWE contract this year it would seem Randy Orton could be the one to take him out for a while.
Raza - This is just a filler match to keep Randy Orton occupied, you can't really call this a 'feud' as it only started when Orton decided to attack Chris Jericho last week whilst Orton has remained intent on taking out Reigns so Jericho has taken a back seat ever since his rivalry with Bray Wyatt concluded. We know Jericho is on his way out and I doubt he will leave on a winning note; I expect Randy Orton to defeat Chris Jericho and to do it in typical Orton fashion; hopefully he can remind us why he was once The Legend Killer.
The Usos vs. Stardust and Goldust - WWE Tag Team Championship Match
One of the matches I am most looking forward to as The Usos look set to drop their tag team titles much like The Ascension did on NXT Takeover 2, this means they could soon come up to challenge Stardust and Goldust if they take the titles on Sunday.
Raza - The heel turn was desperately needed for Stardust and Goldust, they've brought a new dimension to their already-odd characters. Wit The Usos it seems ever since they finished up with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan they have fallen down the tag team ladder even though they are champions and even a victory here probably wouldn't elevate them back up right now. I'd like to give The Usos another chance and another run with the championships if a better option for a feud comes up, but right now I have to say that Stardust and Goldust will be our new WWE Tag Team Champions.
Mark Henry vs. Rusev - Singles Match
Someone has to beat Rusev, and I think Mark Henry could be the guy to do it. Although Rusev looks to be starting a feud with Cena, I still think Henry could look strong in this one and finally get the better of the Russian
Raza - Again, another filler as there are strong rumours that Rusev could begin a new feud with John Cena on the very same night. Even if he doesn't; Vince McMahon is very high on Rusev and Lana and there has been talk of keeping Rusev unbeaten towards WrestleMania 31 where he could compete in a big match. Mark Henry will be another massive name under Rusev's belt and I will be very surprised at any other outcome; Rusev will defeat Mark Henry.
Paige vs. AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella - Divas Championship Match
I think this will be a good advert for the divas division and shockingly I think Nikki could be the one to leave with the strap, I think it would be a great advert for Total Divas to have a divas champion on the show and I think they have built her up enough for her to be able to pull it off, leaving Paige and AJ Lee left in the abyss.
Raza - It's a shame Nikki Bella has to be involved in this as I'd much rather see another good match between Paige and AJ. Usually I would rule Nikki Bella out right off the bat but this time it's a little tricky to overlook her. The reason being is that she has Stephanie McMahon on her side and we already know how successful Seth Rollins has been under The Authority, perhaps Nikki Bella could follow the same path. At the same time, it will be too soon for Paige to drop the championship for a second time and I'll stick with the safer option and say Paige will retain her Divas Championship.
Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz - Intercontinental Championship
I think Dolph deserves a decent title run and I don't think Miz will pose that much of a threat to him given his lack of ring time in recent weeks, even though this feud has seen some funny moments with the stunt doubles I think Ziggler will come out on top.
Raza - I highly doubt The Miz will recapture the Intercontinental Championship so soon after Ziggler defeated him for the gold. Expect R-Ziggler and Damien Mizdow to appear in this match but I believe the popular star in Dolph Ziggler will defeat The Miz. Again, if we're believing rumours then expect Bray Wyatt to come face to face with Ziggler.
Sheamus vs. Cesaro - United States Championship
This is set to be quite a brutal match between two brawlers and I think this may finally be Cesaro's time, WWE hasn't done a lot with Sheamus since he won the title and it seems only right that he drops the title to Cesaro so he can climb up to where he was when he became a Paul Heyman guy.
Raza - I have always thought two championships will change hands at Night of Champions based on the storylines heading into the event. Again; another match which right now is difficult to call right down the middle as both men have showed signs of dominance in the feud. Cesaro has had a fall from grace in recent months; he was involved in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Elmination Chamber, he was in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the same titles and he was a Paul Heyman Guy as well. Things haven't looked too great for him in the past few months so I do think this could potentially be the start of good things for Cesaro; I believe Cesaro will walk out as the new United States Champion.
Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena - WWE World Heavyweight Championship
As sad as it sounds, it's not the match that is the most exciting part of this, it's what might happen after it, with Seth set to tease a cash in and Dean Ambrose may appear to stop it, we could potentially see all three Shield members brawling to end the pay-per-view, but John Cena was never really going to defeat Lesnar, he just needs to get the rematch out of the way.
Raza - So many possibilities in this match, it has the potential to be a fantastic match-up whilst at the same time it could be a flat main event. We could see Lesnar dominate again or we could see a massive fightback from John Cena in typical Cena fashion. Whatever happens, this is most likely the final encounter between the two in this rivalry especially if Rusev does make his presence felt in the match. A Seth Rollins cash in has also been rumoured since the rematch was announced but the best way to go is to keep Lesnar looking unbeatable, a John Cena win makes the beat down at SummerSlam look like it was a fluke, and the ending of the streak will also take a hit; Brock Lesnar will retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
