There had been a lot of promise for a very physical and brutal match ahead of Sheamus and Cesaro's bout for the United States Championship at Night of Champions last night.

Members of the WWE Universe were not disappointed as these two Superstars put on a superb display to showcase their own unique moves as well as their athletic ability.

European match-up

The crowd at the pay-per-view event at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee knew they were in for something special as early on, after an exchange of blows Cesaro proceeded to slap Sheamus to antagonise him.

The Dublin-born champ then took charge of the match, attacking Cesaro with a High Knee and Rolling Senton but only managing to pin the Swiss for a two count.

Throughout the match which interestingly saw two Europeans fighting for the title of United States Champion, both wrestlers proved their enviable physical capability and it was clear the title could have gone either way.

Cesaro gave his all against the Irishman; trying to make him pass out through using sleeper holds but it seemed the Dubliner had an answer for everything Cesaro threw at him.

There were several points in the match when it seemed it was over, but even moves such as two Irish Curse Backbreakers were not enough to achieve the win over the Swiss Superman.

Soon after Cesaro boasted his talent through dodging the infamous Brogue Kick into a Tiger Driver for a two count once again.

These two big names in WWE were determined to showcase the variety of signature moves they each possess, with Cesaro eventually attempting a Neutralizer only to be flipped over Sheamus' back.

At this point it was clear Sheamus was wound up, Cesaro had surely done all he could but the Celtic Warrior was encouraging him more and more.

Irish finisher

In the end Sheamus proved why he is the United States Champion as he used his mind games to provoke Cesaro once again, this time landing a Brogue Kick on him to deservedly retain his title.

Overall this match was one which despite having a lot of hype surrounding it during the build-up to it, still exceeded expectations. These two WWE Superstars proved the strength of the industry as it is not necessarily just the main event which is created to impress the WWE Universe during a pay-per-view event.
