Lisa Brennauer and Lennard Kamna win gold for Germany in the women's individual time trial and Junior men's individual time trial.

Brennauer claimed gold by 18 seconds with Anna Solovey finishing in the silver medal position and Evelyn Stevens getting the bronze. Defending champion Ellen Van Dijk could only manage to finish in seventh place, one minute 11 seconds off the pace.

Tony Martin clear favourite to win time trial at World Championships

Linda Villumsen was aiming for a sixth consecutive podium finish in the individual time trial event at the World Championships but she had a disappointing day and crossed the line in ninth place.

Brennauer was second going into the second time split but Solovey who was in first lost valuable time whilst going up a climb towards the end of the race. The German had obviously paced herself well and powered up the climb to cement her position at the top.

The 26 year old admitted the race was hard but she was pleased with the overall result.

According to Sky Sports, Brennauer said: "I had a really good day. The race was very long but I gave it my all on the climb. It’s overwhelming. I can’t believe it right now.”

Brennauer has now won two gold medals at the 2014 Road World Championships after being part of the Specialized-Lululemon team that won the team time trial at the weekend.

German dominance

Lennard Kamna ended up winning the Junior men's time trial with ease and was ahead of the rest of the field at every checkpoint.

Kamna completed the 29.5km course in 38 minutes and 13 seconds which was 44 seconds quicker than second placed Adrien Costa.

The 18 year old continued to pull away throughout the course and it was a well deserved win for the young man.

Germany could be looking at three gold medals in two days if Tony Martin can produce a winning ride tomorrow in the men's time trial.
