Ryan Fredericks shines on Middlesbrough debut

Ryan Fredericks won the battle of the Tottenham loanees on his debut, as Middlesbrough trounced Alex Pritchard's Brentford 4-0.

Fredericks played at right back and played the full ninety minutes, while Pritchard was subbed after 66 minutes as Brentford lost heavily for the second game in succession. Middlesbrough have now pushed into the play-off places, while Brentford sit in mid-table after their promotion.

There was less good news in League One as Kenneth McEvoy, despite returning to the starting line-up, could not stop Peterborough from slipping to a late 1-0 defeat away at Yeovil. The Irish winger was removed after 71 minutes with the scores level.

Jordan Archer had an eventful game for Northampton Town in a nine-goal thriller, being credited with an own goal as the Cobblers lost 5-4 to visitors Accrington Stanley.


Shaq Coulthirst played 65 minutes in Southend United's 3-2 away win at York, while in Germany Lewis Holtby was involved in Hamburg's backs-to-the-walls goalless draw against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, while Grant Ward played just over an hour in Chicago Fire's 3-3 draw with DC United.

Elswehere, Tom Carroll and Tomas Gomelt stayed on the bench for the duration for Swansea and Bari respectively, Swansea losing 1-0 at home to Southampton and Bari winning 2-0 at home to Livorno in Serie B.
