Last week we reported that one unlucky bettor lost out on a huge pay-day after the Philadelphia Eagles stormed back to beat the Colts in monday night football.
Had the colts won by three or more the gambler would have won $100,000 on the Delaware Sports Lottery' $100,000 Parlay Card.
However this week, one lucky man - identified as Rex, from Kingman, Arizona - had much better luck, winning a cool $57,935 from a $5 dollar bet!
He was playing the William Hill Pro Progressive Football Parlay Card challenge and out of 3,986 entries he was the only person to go 15 for 15 in his predictions. He's got Jay Cutler and the Chicago bears to thank as they defeated the New York Jets on Monday Night Football to give him the win.
As the title suggests the parlay is progressive, so each week - if there are no winners - the jackpot increases. The jackpot starts at just under $14,000 and after the first two weeks there were no winning tickets, hence the inflated prize money. In the 2013 season the jackpot got as high as $103,000 until someone clinched the money in week 11.
According to William Hill spokesperson Michael Grodsky, Rex hedged his wager for an undisclosed amount by betting on the Jets to win straight-up on Monday at the Edgewater sports book.
"He told the ticket writer that he would have hedged for more, but he had no idea he was the only Chicago winner," Grodsky said.
Unlucky for some
There was however, one unlucky bettor who - going into Monday Night Football - was 14 for 14 and needed just a New York Jets win over the Bears. Had he selected the Bears and both men were victorious, the prize pot would have been split.
The jackpot for week 4 will stand at $13,950
