Dana White will never allow MMA legend, Wanderlei Silva into the UFC Hall of Fame, after his drugs test failure.
The Brazilian was forced into retirement in an embarrassing fashion after the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) banned him from ever competing in the state again.
Silva's response to literally run away from an on the spot drugs test drew the ire of everyone in the sport, but especially the NSAC and White.
MMA's Pete Rose
In an interview with FOXSports, White said that the Brazilian has earned himself from an exclusion from ever entering the UFC's Hall of Fame due to the scandal he's put the sport through.
"There's going to be no Hall of Fame. The guy's been Pete Rose'd. There's going to be no Hall of Fame offers." Said White.
Rose was infamously added to the ineligible list of the baseball Hall of Fame by MLB commissioner, Bart Giamatti. after he was found to be betting on baseball results while playing and managing the Cincinnati Reds.
Now, despite a historied career in MMA, Silva will be barred from entering MMA's biggest promotion's Hall of Fame, which while still small in number while see him crowded out in the future by surefire Hall of Famers at the moment.
No mention of an exclusion for Sonnen
While Silva has been banned from the Hall of Fame, there was no mention of anything for his proposed opponent, Chael Sonnen, who acted just as bad as Silva.
Silva running away is the lowest you get but Sonnen was bold as brass in taking a drugs test, all while knowing that he was doped on performance enhancing drugs before the fight.
Maybe it's because he handled the fall out better than Silva, but that's only because he was forced to or risk jeopardising his chances of any post-career jobs.
White is always outspoken and quick to react but will later backtrack though.
Thiago Silva would "never fight in the UFC again" according to White, after domestic abuse allegations came against the fighter. However, once he was cleared by a judge he signed a new deal with the UFC.
Further allegations and videos have seen Silva released from that deal again but it goes to show that White can change his mind, so maybe there's hope for Wanderlei down the line.
