The beginning of the 2014 season has been quite the shock to most football fans. Manchester United are struggling, while Southampton, Aston Villa, and Swansea are shining near the top of the table.

Tottenham came into this season with the aspiration of a top-four finish, but Spurs start this season has been slow to say the least.

Spurs fans should be worried

Starting 2-1-2 might not seem like such a bad record, but looking at their opponents, Spurs fans need to worried. Barely beating West Ham, losing to West Brom, and drawing with Sunderland are not results Tottenham can have if they want to play Champions League football next year.

Looking at the current roster, Tottenham is still a pretty weak team, especially on the scoring front. Roberto Soldado still isn't showing his true potential, and it's at a point where he looks like he doesn't want to be on the field. Scoring on Wednesday was a boost, but he needs to apply his play to Premier League matches.

Midfielders must step up

Paulhino and Dembele also have yet to show why they belong at White Hart Lane. Spurs can't continue to rely on players like Eriksen, Lloris, and Dier to help win games, and the potential is spewing out of young players with a coach like Mauricio, but they need to apply it to real games.

Looking at Saturday's match-up vs. Arsenal, Spurs need to take advantage of their opportunities. Seeing Adebayor and Soldado up top would be a great start to the line-up. I think the two create a very dangerous attack that will score Spurs goals.

In the middle, I'd like to see Lennon on the right, Eriksen at the attacking mid spot, Paulhino at the left, and Stambouli at the defensive mid position. Lennon provides a dangerous right side that will allow them to dangerously attack the Gunners.

At the back, Dier, Kaboul, Vertonghan, and Rose look like the best fit. Vertonghan needs to return to the first team action and start playing in bigger games. Lloris in goal is a must, given he is one of the best keepers in the league.

Prediction

Given that the game is at the Emirates, it will be a very tough match for Spurs, but I think that they can pull it off. Tottenham wins 3-1.
