Brie Bella is in perhaps one of the toughest storylines she has ever had to be a part of in WWE right now, but the former Divas Champion spoke to Chris Jericho on his Talk is Jericho podcast this past week and says that the highlight of her career was SummerSlam this year when she faced Billionaire princess Stephanie McMahon.
As reported by NODQ, Brie said it was easily her career highlight to this point. She insisted that you could probably go back years and find an interview of her saying that her dream match would be with Stephanie McMahon, but she couldn't believe it actually happened.
She also admitted that it took a lot of trust from Vince McMahon to give them a main event promo spot.
The lead up to the match saw the Divas main event an episode of the WWE's flagship show Raw for the first time in over a decade and this then saw ratings drop for this part of the show, but Vince obviously held out and thought it was worth giving his daughter the spot to build up to one of the biggest divas matches in decades.
The match itself was a continuation of Triple H vs Daniel Bryan, with the spouses fighting for their other half's as they couldn't themselves what with Daniel's current injury. But Stephanie looked like she was just as comfortable in the ring as she was before she semi-retired and had children. Whilst Brie seemed to be the perfect person for her to have a comeback match against.
This whole feud shows how thought out some of the divas division has become because it then lead to Nikki turning on Brie and costing her the match and the two are now in the mist of a very personal rivalry about growing up as sisters and the strains wrestling has had on that.
But whether this was a one off for Stephanie or not still remains to be seen as many think that AJ Lee and one of the principle owners of the company could be set to collide in what could be a rivalry to set the divas division alight.
Ever since Stephanie took the title from AJ a few weeks ago on Raw it seems there could be something building between the two and now AJ has her title back this could be a way for Stephanie to involve herself in the situation and return the divas to the Main Event spot.
These for now are just rumours as Stephanie has stayed off TV for a while as of late and who knows when or why she will return next time. But either way, someone of Stephanie's pedigree is needed to inject some excitement in this generations viewing.
