Geno Smith under intense pressure as Jets’ fans call for Vick

Published Add your comment

New York Jets fans have shown their dissatisfaction at the performance of their current starting quarterback Geno Smith after his subpar effort in the Jets’ disappointing home 17-10 loss to Detroit Lions.

Missed opportunities

The Jets trailed 17-3 at half-time, but a strong defensive performance by New York set up Chris Johnson for a 35-yard rushing touchdown that pulled Gang Green to within seven points.

But as was the story in the first half, the Jets’ starting QB Geno Smith did not take the opportunities that were handed to him by his defense late in the fourth quarter.

Calls for Vick

Geno went 17/33 during the game for one touchdown and one terrible interception. As a result of his poor showing, Jets fans showed their voice throughout the game as they called for Michael Vick to be thrown in and Geno benched.

At half-time, head coach Rex Ryan even said he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Vick coming in during the second-half, but Ryan stuck to his guns on Geno.

It will be interesting to see what happens during the aftermath of the game and any more comments that come out from Ryan, with Jets’ fans on social media and in MetLife Stadium stating their desire for Vick to be brought in as the starter going forward.
