The internet wrestling community is one of the most passionate around. They will make sure their opinions are heard whether they are sharing their displeasure to the current product or praising the direction the company might be going in.
Social media impact
Internet and social media as a whole has changed the WWE in a major way, breaking news, updates, results and rumours are all available seven days a week, in fact we can even watch the majority of WWE programming online.
Fans are always discussing ideas online, when they’re not Tweeting their favourite superstars you’ll probably find them on message boards discussing the current product, booking matches which they believe should take place and basically taking control of what they believe the world should be seeing on television.
Triple H isn’t a fan
One key figure in the WWE who is known not to be too fond of the internet and social media is Triple H. Triple H has voiced his displeasure on live television in regards to the ‘smarks’ online that think they know it all and threaten to stop watching.
But there are rumours circulating online that Triple H could be looking to the internet wrestling community as he gains more control in the WWE. It is inevitable that Triple H will take over the WWE once Vince McMahon does eventually step down and Triple H is looking to the future and could give fans what they want to a certain extent.
One of the communities Triple H is rumoured to be intrigued by is Reddit, more specifically the ‘r/squaredcircle’ community where hundreds of discussions take place daily. Sometimes they’re just the results, fantasy booking or even spoilers, most notably the infamous ‘Dolphins1925’ who tends to leak pay-per-view results moments before the event takes place.
Message boards such as the ‘r/squaredcirlce’ on Reddit and other forums such as GameFAQs are just some of the message boards Triple H and the WWE are, and will continue to look at in the future. Reading what the fans say and take the feedback on board so they can go ahead an influence their product according to what the trend is.
There are even rumours surrounding Damien Sandow; citing that the fans on such message boards came up with the idea of having Damien Sandow as The Miz’ bodyguard which the WWE then followed up on by making him his stunt double and giving him the name Damien Mizdow; so it shows just what fans could have to offer.
At the moment Triple H is in talks to feature on a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) so he can gain maximum visibility on the main page and wants wrestling fans to realise that he is there basically reading everything they’re saying, positive or negative.
It will be clearer in the coming months whether Triple H and the WWE will continue to look at the message boards depending on what happens on television.
