Manchester United striker James Wilson could miss this weekend's Premier League clash with Everton after picking up an injury for the club's U-21 side on Monday night, reports The Guardian.
The striker - who was expected to pick up a place on United's bench for the visit of the Toffees on Sunday - hobbled off as Warren Joyce's young team beat Tottenham by two goals to one.
Wilson is now the 11th Manchester United player currently out on the sidelines with injury, as Louis van Gaal's bad luck continues at Old Trafford. As well as Wilson, the likes of Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Co. are all currently out of action, leaving the United boss down to the bare bones at the Theatre of Dreams.
Van Gaal, then, may have to make-do without Wilson this weekend, despite previous plans to put him in the 18 after Wayne Rooney picked up a red card in the club's last outing against West Ham United.
Rooney will miss Manchester United's next three fixtures, so it's expected that Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie will lead the line this weekend, with either of Juan Mata or Adnan Januzaj filling the No.10 role.
Without Rooney and Wilson, United fans will be hoping the club can continue their fine streak in front of goal. Van Gaal's side have scored nine goals in their last three games in England's elite division.
However, it won't be easy for United this weekend as they go in search of back-to-back victories for the first time under the Van Gaal era. Despite Everton's mediocre start to the season, Roberto Martinez's side will still have enough about them to cause United problems.
The likes of Romelu Lukaku and Co. will certainly be looking to cause United's back line problems on Sunday, as the Red Devils have been extremely vulnerable in that department.
With Manchester United already eight points behind league leaders Chelsea, Van Gaal's side can't afford to continue dropping points as they attempt to climb the Premier League table and at least secure Champions League qualification this term.
