Chelsea face their biggest game of the season against Arsenal

Published 1 Comments

Chelsea's home match against Premier League rivals Arsenal this weekend is arguably Jose Mourinho's biggest challenge so far this season.

While many would simply claim that there is hardly any pressure on Chelsea to win this game as they are three points clear with a far superior goal difference to any other club, this is exactly why is it of such high importance.

Chelsea's problem last season, while many have acclaimed to be due to the lack of a key striker, was more often than not actually their habit to capitulate and not commit.

Chelsea must push on

Mourinho needs to assure the fans. his players and most importantly himself that he can motivate his players to such a degree so that even when there is a cushion of points on the board meaning a loss can easily be taken, they will still produce the highest of standards and get three points in good stead.

After six games played, this highly prestigious fixture comes at an integral part of the season. With Chelsea producing such a blistering start to the season what the Blues must do now is start gaining three points consistently.

Blues need to secure three points

The form they've masterfully produced with the likes of Diego Costa producing wonderful performances, it is essential that Chelsea pick up three points and keep piling on the pressure on other Premier League contenders.

Arsenal though, along with many others in the Premier League, will be desperate to dislodge Chelsea's brilliant form and stifle their consistency. With the momentum Chelsea have gained it will be certainly be in Arsenal's best interests to catch Mourinho's men and knock their confidence.

Arsenal could spring a surprise

What makes this so interesting is that Arsenal certainly have the ability to stall Chelsea. While Arsenal suffer setbacks in the form of Ramsey especially sustaining an injury, Chelsea will also have concerns over Diego Costa's fitness after the Spaniard played fully against Sporting midweek.

Whilst Costa has assured media that he will be able to start on Sunday one would be skeptical over whether he would be able to fire on all cylinders.

So, it is clear that the stage has been set for Arsenal to cause a huge upset. A London derby win at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea though are assured to put up quite the fight.
