WrestleMania 31 is around five months away and as expected the final plans are reportedly being locked in for the event which takes place in Santa Clara, California.
The latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter provides insight on which main event matches the WWE are looking to finalise, or have already been finalised as the Road to WrestleMania quickly approaches.
The details they have provided currently revolve around John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Roman Reigns, Rusev, Sting, The Rock and The Undertaker; and what matches these stars could potentially feature in.
Some are more obvious than others, whilst there are still question marks over who will even be at the event, such as Sting, The Undertaker or even The Rock.
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
The most obvious and the match everyone expects to happen, is scheduled to take place at WrestleMania. Roman Reigns is currently out injured and is recovering and should be back in time for a surprise entry in the Royal Rumble, and walk out as the winner in the 40-man Royal Rumble after finishing as runner-up to Batista at the 2014 Royal Rumble.
It’s no secret that Roman Reigns is the next big star in the company and the pressure will pile on every single week in the run-in to his potential blockbuster championship clash with The Beast Incarnate, but it is expected that Lesnar will compete at the Royal Rumble, retain his gold before dropping it to Reigns at WrestleMania where Lesnar could end his run with the WWE.
The Rock vs. Triple H
The Rock is scheduled to be the frontrunner as the headline star of the 2015 Hall of Fame class but his weekend could include a little bit more, the small task of taking on The Game, Triple H at the grandest stage of them all. The long-time rivals teased the match at the SmackDown 15th anniversary special which airs on Friday, in a segment where they verbally took shots at one another, arguing over who would win if they were to had one more match.
The Rock told Triple H that the WrestleMania 31 main event would be the ideal place to settle the debate. It is believed that it’s very likely The Rock could compete at WrestleMania 31.

John Cena vs. Rusev
After defeating Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania XXX, John Cena is set to work with Rusev and Lana in the build-up to WrestleMania 31, and that could start at the Royal Rumble. It is rumoured that Brock Lesnar will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Rumble, and John Cena will be his opponent. Much like how Seth Rollins cost Cena his chance at Night of Champions, Rusev is scheduled to do the same at the Royal Rumble.
A Rusev and Cena feud has been in the works for a while now, and a WrestleMania match would be perfect for Rusev as he and Lana continue to perform as two of the best heels in the business today. A match with Cena at WrestleMania would be a massive achievement for Rusev, but a win and remaining undefeated would solidify Rusev as a serious main event superstar.
Sting vs. The Undertaker
The match every hard core wrestling fan has been waiting for years to see, March will possibly be the final time this match could ever take place with Sting and The Undertaker not getting any younger. Sting has been adamant about facing The Undertaker as he believes he has one last match in the tank before he officially calls it a day. The Undertaker was recently questioned over whether he will be facing Sting, before shrugging his shoulders and telling the fans to never say never, although he isn’t confirmed to be wrestling at the event.
Sting has also brought up names such as Triple H, Daniel Bryan and John Cena in regards as to who he would like to face, if The Undertaker plan does fall through then it is Bray Wyatt that is expected to be Sting’s one and only match in the WWE.
In the coming weeks or months it will be interesting to see what the WWE has planned for other top talent, it is an odd situation for Randy Orton right now whilst Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose should be in top matches, and we still have the Daniel Bryan return to look forward to.
