Arsenal have offered Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira a deal worth £100,000-a-week, reports the Express.
It's been suggested that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is determined to bring the German international to the Emirates, and could land him in the January transfer window for just £12 million.
Potential Arsenal deal
With the World Cup winner set to run out of contract at the Bernabeu at the end of the season, it appears that the club's hierarchy are ready to cash in on him in the winter market.
It appears, then, that Khedira could well be on his way to England's elite division, but it remains to be seen as to whether he will accept Arsenal's offer. Gunners fans will certainly be hoping that the club can add the powerful midfielder to their squad, with the side in need in that department.
With the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Co. struggling to make a major impression in the middle of the park at the Emirates, Khedira would prove a fine option sitting in front of the back-four.
The Gunners' back-line are certainly in need of greater protection in front of the defence, with the club conceding far to often for Wenger's liking.
Chelsea still keen
However, if Arsenal are going to secure a deal for the player's services, they may yet have to battle Premier League rivals Chelsea for his signature.
The same report has suggested that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is still keen in the player he previously worked with in La Liga. In fact, it's been suggested that Chelsea could make a bid for Khedira as they look to land him in front of Arsenal.
Chelsea already have an array of talent in the middle of the park, but it appears that that the addition of Khedira would allow Fabregas to play a more attacking role.
