Pau Gasol reveals NBA free agency madness

Pau Gasol took the decision to leave the Los Angeles Lakers for pastures new in the off-season. The Spaniard eventually made the move to the Chicago Bulls, but Gasol says it wasn't easy.

For the first time in his career long professional career, Gasol really got to test free agency. He had several suitors, including the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, but he wound up picking the Chicago Bulls.

Stressful Times

Although Pau Gasol seems happy with his decision, he did not enjoy free agency:

“It was a difficult decision; it was a difficult process to go through and I don’t wish to go through it again because it was just very stressful,” Gasol said according to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders.

“My phone was blowing up. It got to points in the day where I just didn’t want to be by my phone so I just put it away. I don’t know who called at those times. I tried to return the calls and the messages as much as I could, because I was trying to be respectful and appreciative of the people that had interest in me."

Hectic Life

"I did not expect nor anticipate that it was going to be that hectic and that stressful. So first it was hard for me to make the decision to move on from the team that I’ve been a part of and been through so much with – the Lakers. Then, after that, it was, ‘Okay, where do I want to play?”

In the end, it looks like everything worked out for Pau. The 34-year old finds himself on a legitimate contender on the Bulls where he doesn't have to take the load of the team on to his shoulders like he had to in LA with Kobe's injury. And it helps that his teammates have already let it be known they can't wait to play with him...
