Marcel Brands confirms PSV will consider Zakaria Bakkali offers

Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have been offered fresh hope in their alleged pursuit of Zakaria Bakkali, after PSV Eindhoven sporting director Marcel Brands hinted that the club would consider offers for the player in January.

The Belgian wonderkid - dubbed the 'new Eden Hazard' in his homeland - has attracted admiring glances from a host of top European clubs, and could finally leave the Philips Stadion when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

Hot prospect

PSV came close to cashing-in on the 18-year-old winger during the summer after negotiating a deal with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, only to see the talented teenager turn down the opportunity to move to Spain at the last minute, mainly because of a disagreement over the wages on offer at the Vicente Calderon.

The Eredivisie club appear to be growing increasingly frustrated with Bakkali's rebellious behaviour, having also withdrawn a contract offer of their own as a direct result of his continued petulance.

Despite the player's questionable attitude there seems to be no shortage of admirers with The Express reporting earlier this week that Louis van Gaal, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers have all been keeping tabs on Bakkali's development in Holland, and are ready to tussle for his signature in 2015.

Marcel Brands:

"It’s obviously a clear possibility [a January exit]," Brands was quoted as saying in Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo. "If a club comes for him, we will talk.

"During the summer, we reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid but he didn’t want to go.

"He has a good heart. I don’t have anything against him, but I have a responsibility with the club and the other players. He hasn’t treated PSV with respect and that has consequences."

It remains to be seen whether Bakkali will end up at Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge or the Emirates, but it's clear that the youngster does have a bright future in the game, as long as he can get his head down and work hard in an attempt to continue his development.

Either way, the Premier League looks like being the most likely destination, given the teen talent's apparent ambition to test himself in England's top-flight.
