Titus O'Neil overcomes Sami Zayn on NXT

Published Add your comment

There was no Adrian Neville in action on NXT this week as Sami Zayn occupied a main event spot, taking on one half of Slater Gator, Titus O’Neil, whilst The Ascension continued to torment Hideo Itami.

Last week on NXT Charlotte retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Bayley and the match between Viktor and Hideo Itami didn’t even begin as The Ascension took out Itami.

Baron Corbin picked up another impressive win whilst The Vaudevillians continued to rack up the wins, defeating Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger.

In the main event Tyson Kidd failed to dethrone Adrian Neville, wasting his final chance at taking on Neville for the NXT Championship.

This week we kicked off with a match between Tyler Breeze and Mojo Rawley after Breeze attacked Rawley last week.

Match One: Mojo Rawley vs. Tyler Breeze

This is a match we will probably see once more at the next NXT live special and after a slow start for Breeze, he managed to quickly pick up the victory over Mojo Rawley. Locking in a Fujiwara Armbar leaving Mojo no choice but to submit.

Result: Tyler Breeze defeats Mojo Rawley

We then see Enzo and Big Cass trying to persuade NXT General Manager William Regal to give Carmella a job on NXT. He isn’t interested until he sees her inside the ring where she makes another diva submit, before telling the duo to bring her to NXT next Thursday.
There is a recap over the whole Hideo Itami and Ascension feud before the next match between Viktor and Itami is due to take place.

Match Two: Hideo Itami vs. Viktor

No Konnor at ringside as Itami starts off the stronger man before Viktor asserted his dominance on the match. As Itami fought back he was distracted by the emergence of Konnor as he dragged out Funaki to the ring but Itami still managed to pick up the win after hitting a dropkick on Viktor.

Result: Hideo Itami defeats Viktor

After the match Konnor made his way inside the ring and tied Itami to the ropes as he watched Funaki get beat down some more.

Match Three: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. The Vaudevillians

Entertaining promo from Enzo Amore as usual, telling Gotch and English to hop back into their Delorean and go back to the future. Another quick match with the Vaudevillians coming out on top, Big Cass suplexed Enzo on top of Simon Gotch for only a two count whilst Enzo Amore was hit by ‘That’s a Wrap’ for the victory.

Result: The Vaudevillians defeat Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady

Sami Zayn hypes up the main event and tries to get under Titus’ skin, understanding that he is having issues with the bunny but it doesn’t mean he can come to NXT to make himself feel better.

Match Four: Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks

First and only divas match of the night and the longest match of the night so far with a good finish with Banks picking up the win after a back and forth beginning; locking in a crossface for the win.

Result: Sasha Banks defeats Becky Lynch

Main Event: Sami Zayn vs. Titus O’Neil

Main event time with Sami Zayn starting off strongly with some kicks but ate a big scoop slam from Titus. The majority of the match was spent with Titus slowly beating down on Sami Zayn, only for him to keep coming back but in the end it was all a bit too much for Sami Zayn.

After a failed Helluva Kick, Zayn attempted a second which connected but he couldn’t get the pin fall victory. Titus then hit the Clash of the Titus from out of nowhere for the victory in a good main event match.

Result: Titus O’Neil defeats Sami Zayn

After the match Titus O’Neil tried to attack Sami Zayn some more but the NXT Champion finally made an appearance, rescuing Sami Zaynf rom receiving another beating.

It looks as if some of the matches are now becoming clearer for the next NXT live special, The Ascension should be in action against Hideo Itami and Finn Balor whilst The Vaudevillians could be competing for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Whilst the highly anticipated title clash between Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn could finally take place.
