He's already tasted box office success with Guardians of the Galaxy, but Batista is set for an even bigger role as it has emerged that he has been cast as the villain in the new James Bond movie.

Perfect fit for the role

He will play the role of Hinx in the 24th instalment of the James Bond series. The casting review that was released described Hinx:

"We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy - Hinx (Male, aged 30 – 45). Height: 180cm – 195cm. Ideally over 6? 2?. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.”

Batista fits the bill perfectly and after proving that he can act after his performance in Guardians of the Galaxy, the role could be another stepping stone to an already impressive resume for the former WWE Champion.

What does this mean for his wrestling career?

The news is good and bad news for Batista fans as they will be able to witness the star in another Hollywood hit - Guardians of the Galaxy made $314 million domestically - however with filming starting in December, Batista's supposed early 2015 return to the WWE is in serious doubt.

Don't expect to see Batista before filming on Bond starts either as he has also signed on to star in the new Robert De Niro movie Bus 567 alongside De Niro, Jeffery Dean Morgan, Kate Bosworth and Gina Carano in the heist flick.

Morgan will play a father who teams up with Batista to rob a bank to pay for his daughter's medical treatment. Very original.

Batista's wrestling career is very much in the balance after the success of his first box office HIT and the fact that he has been riddled with injuries in the past. Whilst he may be doing a lot of fighting and stunts in his movies the chances of him picking up another injury are low.

Also when Batista returned to the WWE earlier this year he was by no means a fan favorite during his two month stint. However with a few movie successes under his belt and a more favourable role offered to him by the WWE, that could all change, so I wouldn't fully rule out a return, however I cant see one for a good while.

Filming on Bond 24 will get underway in December with release dates set for 23rd Oct. 2015 in the UK and 6th Nov. 2015 in the US.
