Adrien Broner is a former three time boxing champion and a very rich man. He is also known for not being a particularly nice guy, and that trait was displayed again this weekend.
As we have seen with athletes in the past, being well off does not necessarily make you a good tipper. For example, take the LeSean McCoy incident last month when he left a $0.20 tip on his $61.56 bill. He was called out by the restaurant staff on social media and the reciept ended up selling for over $100,000 on Ebay.
Well Broner has taken it to a new level. His bill was $24. Instead of leaving nothing (or $0.20) and being called out by staff, the arrogant boxer wrote "Or Nah" on the receipt in place of where the tip amount would be stated and went on to brag about it on instagram. Not cool:
How rich is Broner? Well I haven't got a number. He's obviously not Floyd Mayweather rich, however he is rich enough film himself flushing money down the toilet - on more than one occasion.
There will no doubt be a reason why Broner didn't leave a tip. In the McCoy incident he Described the service as 'Disrespectful' saying that the waiter didn't deserve a tip. If this was the case then fair enough, but poor service doesn't warrant the mockery that ensued.
Also, Broner's history would lead us to believe that the incident was just another example of Broner's ignorance. Here are some examples,
Broner's Worst/Best Moments
In Miami in 2003, Broner got into a nightclub brawl and ended up biting a security guard before being arrested.
In 2012 during his fight with Eloy Perez, Broner started dancing in the middle of the fourth round. Don't get me wrong he is an entertaining fighter, and he backed it up by knocking Perez out just at the end of the same round.
Also in 2012, after Broner defeated Vincente Escobedo he stopped the post fight interview and summoned his girlfriend from the crowd. He got down on one knee, infront of a packed US Bank Arena and......asked her to brush his hair. Amusing to talk about, but super awkward to watch.
Probably the worst incident from Broner - again, quite entertaining - came after his fight with Paulie Malignaggi. They had a well publicised beef in the build up to the fight. It Broner didn't make the situation any better when Malignaggi's girlfriend at the time left him due to his aggressive tendencies and started 'hanging out' with Broner. In the post fight interview he riled up Malignaggi even more when he said "I lifted his belt and his girl." Low blow.
