WWE fans have been waiting for Daniel Bryan to eventually return to in-ring action after being forced to vacate his World Heavyweight Championship earlier this year; however there are fears that he may never wrestle again.
SEScoops.com have reported that Daniel Bryan may undergo ‘Tommy John surgery’ after failing to regain strength in his right arm.
On the May 12 episode of Monday Night Raw, Bryan revealed he would require minimal invasive neck surgery; which in reality was expected to keep the former World Champion out of in-ring action for approximately two months.
During the recovery period Daniel Bryan was unable to compete and defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank, therefore being stripped off the gold after his wife Brie Bella quit the company. John Cena would go on to capture the championship before Brock Lesnar easily took the gold from John Cena at SummerSlam.
As Bryan continued to recover, he experienced difficulty regaining the strength in his right arm and as previously reported, the Tommy John surgery was an option that Bryan turned down, opting to heal his injury through rest and rehabilitation; his wife Brie Bella also confirmed during the Total Divas promotional tour that Bryan would not be needing a second surgery.
The latest reports from SEScoops have suggested that as of this week Daniel Bryan has still seen no improvement with his arm; and talk backstage was surrounding Bryan and the Tommy John surgery he is now expected to go through.
The Tommy John surgery is a surgical graft procedure where the UCL in the elbow is replaced with a tendon some somewhere else in the body. If Bryan does now go through this surgery, the typical recovery period for this procedure is around 6-12 months and this is depending on how much the individual physically exerts his body.
Future in doubt
The assumption right now is that Bryan will not be returning to the WWE any time soon.
It was heavily rumoured that Bryan would be one of the big names returning at the 2015 Royal Rumble in January, alongside Roman Reigns. That now looks highly unlikely as it’s unclear whether Bryan will even wrestle again, this injury will certainly prevent a return any time soon.
It was revealed that the original plan for Bryan - if he did recover in time - was to take on Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
WWE creative have already been told to not include him in any of their future plans and storylines, after a highly successful year in the WWE it looks like Daniel Bryan is and will endure his worst year in the company.
