Hi I’m Mick Le Mare, and this is GW News from PGA Grand Slam of Golf on the beautiful island of Bermuda.
Battered by storms earlier in the week, the course has recovered well to host the three major winners this year, plus Jim Furyk as the previous champion. The tournament is held over the two days with all four players playing together in what is a spectators dream.
US Open winner Martin Kaymer raced away to five under through the front nine, and remaine ahead for the rest of the round. Masters champion Bubba Watson pushed Kaymer Close with an excellent Back 9 in increasingly blustery conditions. Open champion and USPGA Championship winner Rory McIlory finished four of the lead with an up and down round at 1 under par. And Jim Furyk spent much of the day struggling to keep up with the others, finishing one over par.
And finally it’s been a busy day for the PGA of America who today has announced a Ryder cup task force to deal with the way team USA approached the tournament, earlier on I spoke to the chair of the task force, Derek Sprague.
That’s all for today, join us tomorrow where you can hear all the results hear at Bermuda, in the mean time you can see more at golfingworld.tv, and follow us on twitter and Instagram.
