Manchester United's record signing Angel di Maria has been nominated for September's Premier League Player of the Month award after scoring two goals in three matches for the Red Devils.
The Argentina international was in scintillating form for the Red Devils last month and could become the first Manchester United player to win the monthly gong since Robin van Persie in April 2013. Di Maria, United's new number seven, added another goal to his tally against Everton earlier this month.
Despite scoring four Premier League goals in September - including a hat-trick against Swansea City - Chelsea striker Diego Costa, winner of August's Premier League Player of the Month award, is surprisingly not in contention to win the accolade for a second successive month.
Southampton striker Graziano Pelle, who scored three Premier League goals during September, is up for the award - as is the Italian's teammate Morgan Schneiderlin, who has been instrumental in the Saints' rise up the Premier League table.
Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa will also compete with Di Maria for the individual accolade, which will he handed out on Friday, after scoring three goals for the Foxes - including a brace in a famous 5-3 win over Manchester United - during September.
Senegal international Diafra Sakho is the fifth nominee after also scoring three goals - against Hull City, Liverpool and Manchester United - last month. And Crystal Palace's influential midfielder Mile Jedinak, who scored in wins over Everton and Leicester City, completes the list.

While all six players would be worthy winners of the Player of the Month award, it's Di Maria who is expected to land the accolade thanks to his eye-catching performances following his £59.7 million summer move from Real Madrid.
