He divides opinion on a similar level to Marmite, but no one could have begrudged Luis Suarez winning the Golden Shoe award earlier this week.
The accolade, bestowed upon the leading goalscorer amongst Europe's top divisions each year, is one of the pinnacle achievements you can win as a striker in modern football, and only Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably did more than Suarez to win it.
The Portuguese forward opted for a no-show at the event and ultimately the award that was to be shared between he and Suarez - for the 31 goals they each bagged during their respective last campaigns in La Liga and the Premier League - went solely to the Uruguay star.
Liverpool fans and players rightfully celebrated the controversial forward collecting his award, with ex-captain Steven Gerrard sending a video message specifically congratulating the 27-year-old.
Anyone who thinks that it's the end of it from Ronaldo's point of view however clearly hasn't spent enough time studying him to make a proper judgement. The Real Madrid star will likely have taken his failure to go one better than Suarez personally, and you can bet your bottom dollar that he'll be vying to extend the goalscoring lead he's already registered this term.
So who are his main competitors? Who might eclipse him this year for the 2014/15 Golden Shoe award? Well, let's have a look.
