Atletico Madrid star Mario Suarez could make a January switch away from La Liga, reports the Express.

It's been suggested that the defensive-midfielder has grown frustrated because of a lack of opportunities under Diego Simeone, and could now move to the Premier League in the winter market.

In fact, the same report has revealed that both Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in bringing him to England's elite division as they look to improve their options in the middle of the park.

A tough tackling midfielder, Suarez would certainly prove a hit in England, but it remains to be seen as to whether the likes of United and Arsenal step up their interest in his services anytime soon.

Midfield problems

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have had issues in the middle of the park in recent time, so it's not a major surprise that they're interested in Suarez's services.

United splashed the cash in the last transfer window and landed midfield duo Daley Blind and Ander Herrera, but Louis van Gaal could yet add to his midfield department in 2015. Arsenal, on the other hand, have struggled centrally, with the club's back-line in need of greater protection.

United and Arsenal may well go head-to-head in order to land the La Liga man in the next transfer window.
