Adnan Januzaj and Juan Mata lose to Man United teammates in tennis football

We witnessed Juan Mata and Ander Herrera facing off in a crossbar challenge yesterday, but it would seem that Manchester United are far from done with lining their stars up to compete in training ground games.

In another clip sure to be of interest to virtually all Red Devils fans it’s Wayne Rooney, Andreas Pereira, Adnan Januzaj and Mata who find themselves pitted against one another in… tennis football.

This time it’s Rooney and Pereira who stand opposite the partnership of Mata and Januzaj, in a 60-second tennis game to celebrate the official United Facebook page getting 60 million likes.

As was the case with the crossbar challenge it’s all smiles up front, and yet it’s impossible not to detect that hint of competitiveness which kicks in as the game finds its feet.

In truth it’s a rather one-sided affair on this occasion, with what some would deem to be a mis-matched pairing of Rooney and Pereira overcoming their more technical adversaries with little trouble. The club captain and his young partner cruise to a 3-0 lead before Mata manages to pull one back with hardly any time to spare.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Januzaj and his partner however, as both are in contention for a starting spot in tonight’s fixture against West Brom. The Red Devils currently sit 6th in the Premier League table on 11 points, but could move as high as 4th if they emerge victorious against Alan Irvine’s Baggies.
