Rose and LeBron

Cleveland and Chicago faced off last night and it was a great way to whet our appetites for the new NBA season. The Cavs got the win in what was surely the first of many battles between this season.

Derrick Rose made his return to the big time and was excellent, completely destroying Kyrie Irving as he went off for 30 points in just 24 minutes. The Bulls guard was back to his explosive best and draw praise from all corners, even LeBron James.

Speaking of James, despite the Cavs grabbing a comfortable win, the 2 time Champion noted that the Bulls were a much better team and his side need to lose some games to grow as a group.

Steelers beat Texans

Over to the NFL, where the Steelers came from behind to beat JJ Watt and the Texans last night. Antonio Brown threw a touchdown pass on a trick play, while Ben Roethlisberger added two more, as crucial turnovers proved Houston’s downfall in their 7 point defeat.

Voynov Suspended

And finally to Hockey, where LA Kings defenseman Slava Voynov was arrested on domestic violence charges. Voynov was taken into custody from a local hospital where he was with his victim who was being treated for her injuries.

Voynov has been suspended by the NHL with the Kings revealing their support for the league’s decision.
