Sir Alex Ferguson's remarkable reign as Manchester United manager is set to be made into a US blockbuster movie, documenting the Red Devils legend's successful 27-year stint in charge at Old Trafford.

The idea was conceived by former New York Cosmos and USA star Werner Roth, who hopes to turn Ferguson's much talked about autobiography into a feature film.

Twitter feud

Golf now, and the PGA of America president has branded Ian Poulter as 'a little girl' on social media, for his criticism of the jobs Nick Faldo and Tom Watson did as Ryder Cup captains.

Race for ranking

In tennis, Maria Sharpova's bid to end the year ranked number one was left hanging by a thread after she suffered a second straight defeat at the WTA Finals on Thursday, losing 6-3 6-2 against Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova at Singapore's Indoor Stadium.

Back in the ring

And finally to Boxing, where George Groves will face American Denis Douglin on the undercard of the rematch between Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew in Liverpool on 22 November.
