On-loan Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah has declared himself fit and ready for action after recovering from the throat injury that has sidelined him for the past three weeks, and is hoping to make his full debut for parent club Burnley when they host Everton in the Premier League this weekend.

The England U21 international has endured a frustrating start to his season-long spell at Turf Moor after suffering a freak injury during a development squad match against Hull City at the end of last month.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche hasn't been able to call upon the 19-year-old while doctors ordered him to rest for two weeks to repair cartilage in his neck, which meant the Blues scholar also missed the Young Lions' recent European U21 Championship qualifying play-off double header against Croatia.

"I just got a whack in my throat and fractured the cartilage in my throat."

Reflecting on his disrupted start to the 2014/15 campaign, Chalobah insisted he's maintained a positive mindset throughout, and now he's just looking forward to adding to his two substitute appearances he's made for Burnley so far, with a view to helping the newly-promoted side climb the table and hopefully get back in U21 boss Gareth Southgate's plans.

"I was gutted to miss the Croatia games because I'd played quite a lot leading up to that point," the teenager was quoted in an interview with the official FA website. "But well done to Gareth [Southgate] and the squad, they really deserve it.

"I just got a whack in my throat and fractured the cartilage in my throat. The doctor said it needed two weeks to heal with no contact, so I couldn't be involved with the U21s.

"But everything's fine now. I've got another scan on it but I'm good to go."

Competition for places at Stamford Bridge prompted Jose Mourinho to sanction Chalobah's temporary departure, in the hope that he will be given an opportunity to play regularly in England's top-flight, which represents the latest stage of the player's ongoing development with a view to eventually making a senior breakthrough in west London.

There's no doubt that the task at hand of attempting to help Burnley maintain their Premier League status will be a huge ask for a player with relatively little experience, but the youngster is confident that the challenge will stand him in good stead for the future.

Chalobah's return couldn't have come at a better time for Dyche, who is experiencing something of an injury crisis in Lancashire at the moment, with several first-team midfielders currently sidelined and unavailable for selection.

Still looking for first win...

The arrival of Roberto Martinez's Toffees on Sunday will represent a chance for the Clarets to claim their first league victory of the season, with the side currently languishing precariously in 19th place in the table with a measly four point return from their opening eight games back in the top tier.
