Arsene Wenger has admitted he is wary of a back lash against his team after Sunderland were thrashed 8-0 by Southampton last weekend and admitted Arsenal need to improve quickly.
The Gunners’ boss was delighted with his side scoring twice in two minutes to snatch an undeserved win against Anderlecht in the Champions League on Wednesday, but admitted they had not played very well and wants a good performance at the Stadium of Light.
He will have to get it without Jack Wilshere after the midfielder picked up his fifth booking of the season during the disappointing 2-2 draw with Hull City last weekend, but Calum Chambers returns from a similar suspension.
However, there is a boost with Theo Walcott making the bench after recovering from a nine-month absence due to a cruciate knee ligament injury. Aaron Ramsey is left out in place of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mikel Arteta comes in for Wilshere and Nacho Monreal keeps his place in the centre of defence.
