This week on NXT Sami Zayn issued a challenge to the NXT Champion as Adrian Neville attempted to retain his gold against Titus O’Neil, whilst The Ascension continued their beat down on Hideo Itami.

Last week on NXT Baron Corbin picked up another quick victory over Elias Sampson as The Lucha Dragons also picked up a victory, the NXT Tag Team Champions defeated the team of Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

Charlotte defeated Becky Lynch before the match between The Legionnaires and Enzo Amore and Big Cass ended in a no contest after Marcus Louis attacked his partner Sylvester Lefort, leading to the successful debut of Carmella, making ‘Old Blue Pants’ submit.

In the main event Sami Zayn defeated Tyson Kidd, but before that NXT Champion Adrian Neville confirmed he would defend the strap against Titus O’Neil on this week’s episode.

Match One: The Ascension vs. Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger

The opening bout of the night saw The Ascension continue wreaking havoc on NXT since dropping their belts to The Lucha Dragons. Jordan and Dillinger never really got going as Viktor and Konnor hit the Fall of Man on Tye Dillinger for the victory.

After the match the music of Hideo Itami blast the PA system as he confidently made his way to the ring – bad move. The numbers game caught up with him after a valiant effort to take down The Ascension, but they hit the Fall of Man on Itami to cause further damage.

Match Two: CJ Parker vs. Tyler Breeze

Tyler Breeze continued his mean streak as of late, after taking out Mojo Rawley he took out his frustrations on CJ Parker. Mojo Rawley did make his way to ringside to watch the match closely as CJ Parker rolled Breeze up for a two count after he missed a splash. CJ Parker then missed a heel kick resulting in Breeze hitting the Beauty Shot for the win. Tyler Breeze and Mojo Rawley stared each other out as Breeze left the ring.

Result: Tyler Breeze defeats CJ Parker

Match Three: The Vaudevillians vs. Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake

Another opportunity for Blake and Murphy to impress in the ring but an even better opportunity for Gotch and English to continue an impressive run as they steamroll their way through the tag team division.

A very good tag team match a Blake and Murphy put on a great effort to pick up the win but it was always going to go one way, Simon Gotch tagging himself in and hitting an uppercut on Blake after he tried to get his team back into the match. Aiden English hit a swinging neck breaker which allowed Gotch to cover for the victory.

Result: The Vaudevillians defeat Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake

Match Four: Bayley vs. Sasha Banks

A chance for both divas to show their potential and show the fans why they deserve to take on Charlotte for the NXT Women’s Championship. It looked as if Bayley could walk away with the win after connecting with a flying elbow but Banks fought back, nailing Bayley with a back breaker and locking in the Crossface submission hold for the victory.

Result: Sasha Banks defeats Bayley

After the match Sasha Banks continued to attack Bayley until Becky Lynch ran to the ring for the save, helping Bayley to her feet before attacking her from behind and turning heel, leaving with Sasha Banks.

Main Event (NXT Championship): Adrian Neville © vs. Titus O’Neil

As good and entertaining as this match was, every single fan knew there was no way Titus O’Neil was actually going to defeat Neville for the NXT Championship but there was always a chance somebody could cost Neville the win, or Titus could win by disqualification; fortunately neither of those things happened and we got a good, fair match between the pair.

Titus took control of the majority of the match as he wore Adrian Neville, making him visibly weaker and slower. After missing a springboard, Titus O’Neil connected with a huge big boot and followed it up with a right hand, only for Neville to hit a drop kick and following it up with the incredible Red Arrow for the victory.

Result: Adrian Neville defeats Titus O’Neil – Still NXT Champion

After the match, Sami Zayn made his way to the stage and congratulated Neville on his victory, and told Neville that even though he is on a winning streak he is on a mission to get his belt. Neville replied by telling Zayn that whenever he wants a title match, just let him know.

Zayn tells Neville to hold on to it tight because he won’t have it for too long before Neville responded and left a sour taste in Zayn’s mouth – telling him he isn’t too worried as everyone knows he cannot win the big one.
