Trabzonspor CEO Burak Gurdal has confirmed that Manchester United are interested in striker Abdul Majeed Waris, reports the Express.
Waris only joined the Turkish outfit from Spartak Moscow in September, but already appears to be on the radar of the Red Devils, with previous reports suggesting that Manchester United sent coach Ryan Giggs to scout him.
And, despite Gurdal insisting that Waris isn't for sale at this moment in time, the same report has suggested that a substantial bid from United could seal a deal to bring the forward to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
Speaking about the 23-year-old striker, the Trabzonspor CEO told reporters: "We have not have any direct offers however, we know Manchester United are scouting Waris and keeping close tabs on him.
"Not just Waris, we have a few players being closely watched.

"We only signed Waris two-months ago and are not interested in selling right now but you never know what will happen in the future."
It's not surprising that Gurdal wants to keep the forward at the club, with the player already impressing in Turkey. It remains to be seen, however, as to whether Manchester United step up their interest in the player anytime soon.
Do they need him?
In truth, it seems fairly odd that Manchester United are targeting another striker, considering they already have an array of attacking talent at the club. As well as captain Wayne Rooney, United boss Louis van Gaal has the likes of Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and James Wilson at his disposal at the Theatre of Dreams.
Waris, then, would certainly struggle for opportunities if he completed a move to Old Trafford. At just 23-years-old, though, perhaps the youngster could be brought to the club, as they go in search of long-term success.
Red Devils boss Van Gaal, meanwhile, will be hoping that his forward stars are at their best this weekend as the club travel to the Etihad to take on rivals Manchester City. Rooney could return to the starting line-up after serving a three-match suspension, whilst Colombian hit-man Falcao is expected to make the bench at the Etihad.
Manchester United will be determined to secure a positive result at the Etihad as they go in search of climbing the Premier League table.
