Kevin Pietersen is one of the most recognisable sporting faces in the UK and is among the most heralded cricket players in the world but, according to Ravi Bopara, the former England batsman is a 'Z-list celebrity'.
Pietersen has been in a position of particular prominence of late following the release of his autobiography, which lifts the lid on his controversial sacking as an England international.
But Bopara, speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport, does not believe his ex-teammate is among the most prominent stars in this country, but rather in the lower echelons of celebrity.
It was, of course, a joke from Bopara - even if there may be a modicum of truth - with he and Pietersen enjoying a close relationship, which can't be said for the latter and a number of other former colleagues.
Bopara, meanwhile, also poked fun at Phil Tufnell after the ex-England bowler had had mistaken him for Jimmy Anderson as the mystery guest on BBC One's long-running quiz show A Question of Sport.

When asked about how he felt when Tufnell guessed incorrectly he replied: "I didn't actually watch it so I missed out, but I saw on Twitter and everything.
"I don't know how he got that wrong... that's ridiculous, I look nothing like Jimmy!
"First of all I'm a lot better looking!
"And Phil Tufnell's obviously shown he's not a very smart bloke - is he one of the team captains? I think he is. Sack him... get me in!"
