Robin van Persie is just finding his pattern again at Manchester United, Olly Murs has exclusively told GiveMeSport

The Red Devils striker has endured a tricky start to the season under Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford after an inconsistent campaign last term.

The striker did, however, manage to score United's dramatic equaliser against Chelsea last weekend, and Murs has tipped the forward to get stronger as he continues to build up his fitness.

When speaking about the Dutch international, Murs said: "I just think that a lot of people forget, because we're fans and we demand goals and demand performances. You're talking about a player that went to the World Cup; he was there until the semi-finals.

"He's an impact player; he's a player that needs to score. He had to comeback and work on his fitness to get in the team. He has just started getting back into it, and he's just started finding his pattern again and finding his touch."

Murs has also insisted that Van Persie's goal against Jose Mourinho's side was well deserved, and has suggested that the striker will be 'fine' as he goes in search of finding his best form for the club.

He continued by saying: "In the last couple of games, he's been hitting the post and he deserved that against Chelsea. I think he will be fine."

Van Persie and Co. will currently be focussing on this weekend's Manchester derby as the Red Devils travel to the Etihad to take on their local rivals. The Dutchman is expected to start against Manuel Pellegrini's side, as United go in search of goals.

Wayne Rooney is also expected to start after serving a three match suspension, but Colombian hit-man Radamel Falcao looks set to miss the fixture through injury. Manchester United will be determined to secure all three points this weekend, as they look to stay in the title race.

City, on the other hand, will also be targeting a positive result after a poor run of form. Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping his star strikers fire the Citizens to glory, with Argentine ace Sergio Aguero expected to start at Eastlands.

Olly Murs releases his fourth album “Never Been Better” on November 24th.
