West Ham full-back Aaron Cresswell has been overwhelmed by the latest rumours that suggest he could be the next defender to make his international debut at Wembley for England.
Roy Hodgson's improving national side is looking to become even more boisterous and the ex-Fulham, Baggies and Liverpool boss is on the lookout for possible new players to introduce to international football, with Cresswell in the running.
The 24-year-old has so far been a key part of West Ham's top quality side this season who currently sit firmly fifth in the Barclays Premier League, losing just three games in ten.
Time to experiment
With Hodgson's all important squad announcement approaching on Thursday for England's European qualifier against Slovenia on November 15 followed by the hugely anticipated and hostile friendly against Scotland four days later.
Hodgson as he hinted at a possible international debut for the Hammers defender.
He admitted to reporters last week: "It's only a friendly so I am openly willing to give our fringe players a chance and offer some new opportunities"
- West Ham can't get Reece Oxford to sign a new deal
- West Ham show their European credentials
- James Collins must remain a starter for West Ham
However, the former Ipswich man may find it hard to break into the team after Roy Hodgson watched an overly impressive Southampton defence at the KC Stadium on Saturday which included Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand who were both on fire.
After being rejected by Liverpool as a youngster, the 24-year-old has gone out to prove the Reds wrong and showed them what they were missing out on when his club beat Brendan Rodgers' side 3-1 earlier this season.
More call ups for the Hammers
Cresswell is not the only Hammers player rumoured to be called up. The vast improvements of Mark Noble and Stewart Downing at Upton Park could also earn them rare call ups.
After a strong comeback against Stoke at the weekend, Cresswell spoke to the press and said: It's every kid's dream to get into the England squad. I know my chances are limited so I'm working as hard as I possibly can to get that call up."
