Chelsea are the odds-on favourites to win the Premier League title for the first time since the 2009-10 season, but can the Blues go on to dominate English football for years to come with this team Jose Mourinho has created?
Chelsea obviously have the talent to be champions of England this season and for the next. Now, it may seem very early to be talking about the following season at this point, but is anyone really in doubt that Chelsea will win the league this time around?
No team has got close to Chelsea in terms of team performances and the side from Stamford Bridge boasts some incredibly gifted players.
Diego Costa has enjoyed his arrival to the Premier League and has got off to a brilliant start with Cesc Fabregas pulling the strings just behind him; these two signings have been instrumental in the Blues season so far.
But even without Costa in the side, Chelsea don't lack fire power going forward. Eden Hazard is one of the league's most talented attackers and can come up with a moment of magic when his side are in need, not that they are too often.
- Cesc Fabregas wants Champions League triumph
- Real Madrid must break transfer record to land Eden Hazard
- Jose Mourinho was wrong to criticise Chelsea fans
Goals seem to be coming from everywhere on the pitch with Oscar scoring one of the goals of the season so far against Queens Park Rangers and even Branislav Ivanovic, who has hit the net twice already from the right-back position.
We haven't seen a team of such quality and depth for many years in the Premier League. If Mourinho felt like playing the second team, it would still give every side in the division a run for it's money. And that is my point here; Jose Mourinho has got it spot-on this season, from the keeper, all the way through to the striker: this team is undeniably brilliant.
Whereas the Chelsea manager may not admit it publicly, everyone already knows that his side will go on to achieve Premier League glory come the end of the season and you never know, they could possibly win the Champions League along with it. You certainly wouldn't bet against them lifting at least two trophies come the end of May.
The one and only problem they could possibly face, however, is the coming transfer windows. Chelsea are so strong in every position that they cannot really afford to drop anyone out of the team and replace them with a new signing, in the worry of the recruitment's spoiling the squads chemistry the Chelsea staff have worked so hard to build.
You would have to think their rivals Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United will strengthen their squads in the January transfer window, whereas this will probably be too late for these teams to catch the Premier League leaders at that point, assuming they will still be top, it could still cause problems for Chelsea next season.
So, can Chelsea go on to dominate English football? I haven't got one doubt in my mind that they can, with a team like that, we could witness the Premier League become a one-horse race just like the Bundesliga is.
Hopefully, that won't happen for the sake of English football as a whole, but it's a possibility that isn't too small.
