Real Madrid v Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers has made the bold decision to rest five first-team stars for tonight's Champions League clash against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, dropping captain Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Mario Balotelli, Dejan Lovren and Raheem Sterling ahead of Sunday's Premier League encounter with Chelsea.
The decision seems a strange one, especially when the Reds are still capable of qualifying from Group B, and the fact that the Blues also play away in Europe tomorrow evening, meaning the Merseyside club will get an extra day's rest and recuperation.
The two starting line-ups and substitutes for tonight's match is below:
Real Madrid starting XI: Casillas, Varane, Ramos, Arbeloa, Marcelo, Kroos, Modric, Isco, James, Benzema and Ronaldo.
Subs: Navas, Pepe, Bale, Chicharito, Nacho, Medran, Torro.
Liverpool starting XI: Mignolet, Manquillo, Škrtel, Kolo Touré, Moreno, Allen, Lucas, Can, Lallana, Marković, Borini.
Subs: Jones, Johnson, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli.
