Former World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio has been at the height of speculation in recent weeks following many rumours that the littlest big man is hoping to walk away from the company.
It has come to light today that WWE actually called the Mexican superstar ahead of their tour of Mexico and he declined to be a part of the event.
This is just the latest in a long line of reports that suggest Rey wants nothing more to do with the WWE, he has stopped cashing his cheques and wants to opt out of his WWE contract but because he is currently out due to an injury, the company have every right to keep renewing it.
Rey was backstage this week at Monday Night Raw and was hoping to sit down and talk to Vince McMahon face to face to tell him he wanted a release from the company but news coming out of Raw suggests that Rey never got that meeting and things remain still as undetermined as ever.
Many thought that this was Rey's way of walking away from wrestling due to his on-going battle with knee and other joint injuries, but it seems the former Cruiserweight is hoping to join AAA, the promotion where fellow Mexican Alberto Del Rio is now honing his craft, following his WWE release.

Now Rey hasn't been seen on WWE tv since the night after Wrestlemania 30, he played a part in the Andre the Giant battle royal at the event itself before being eliminated by eventual winner Cesaro. Before taking on Bad news Barrett on the infamous Raw after Wrestlemania where he picked up a wrist injury and was forced to take more time out.
This came just six months after Rey had returned from a bad knee injury, and in those few months he had played only a small part in WWE proceedings. After his return at Hell in a Cell on commentary last year, Rey then teamed with The Big Show in a losing effort to capture the Tag Team Titles at TLC.
He was then the 30th man into the Royal Rumble this year and was heavily booed when fans realised he wasn't Daniel Bryan. Rey then played no role in Elimination Chamber and only a short one at Wrestlemania, which is why WWE aren't having problems filling in for his absence.
Rey does sell a lot of merchandise though and WWE will miss this if they do agree to give the superstar his release and allow him to wrestle for a rival company, but so far Rey hasn't been seen for six months and after all the time he's been out over the last few years, it's becoming harder and harder to notice his absence.
