GMS takes a closer look at four contenders to win the coveted 2014/15 Premier League Golden Boot award.
4: Graziano Pellè
The Italian has been ever-present for the Saints this season, and has been instrumental to Ronald Koeman's side.
He was recently rewarded for his recent form by the Italian national team. Pellè gained his first cap for Italy, and scored on his debut for the 2006 World Cup winners. With the Saints enjoying their best ever top-flight start, Pellè may well bring the Golden Boot to St. Mary's.
3. Alexis Sanchez
Alexis Sanchez is starting to incorporate very well into Arsene Wenger's side after signing from European giants Barcelona for £35 million, and despite the Gunners experiencing a slight dip in form recently, the Chilean has continued coming up with the goods.
With eight goals already to his name, the premier league debutant can be considered well in the race for this year's Golden Boot.
- Diego Costa among 7 2014/15 EPL Golden Boot contenders
- Premier League team of the 2014/15 season so far
- Sergio Aguero remains the best striker in the Premier League
2. Sergio Agüero
Agüero has been on this list since first arriving in the blue half of Manchester, winning two league titles in his first three seasons.
Agüero is currently in unstoppable form, currently standing tall atop the scoring charts. He is putting every chance he gets into the back of the net, and is likely to keep doing that throughout the rest of the season, fuelling City's title charge.
1. Diego Costa
The third Premier League debutant on this list, Costa has been prolific since arriving from Spanish Champions Atletico Madrid. Costa scored well over 20 league goals last season, and 36 goals in all competitions for Los Colchoneros.
He has seemingly carried the same form into England, and has already grabbed his first hat-trick for the Blues.
With nothing standing in Chelsea's way at the moment, Costa looks set to be among the league's very best in the months to come.
