Manchester United have been boosted in their shock attempt to bring former captain Nemanja Vidic back to Old Trafford as Inter Milan look to Fabian Schar to the Serie A, according to the Daily Star.
The Red Devils have been linked with a surprise move for their former Serbian captain in recent time, despite the fact he only left the Theatre of Dreams at the end of last season.
However, with United struggling defensively and Vicic enduring a tricky opening period in the Serie A, it appears that the club could be prepared to bring him back to the club in the next transfer window.
And now it appears that Inter could be ready to let him depart the club as they look to bring FC Basel defender Fabian Schar to Italy's elite division. Inter's link with Schar, however, may come as a major blow for Manchester United's Premier League rivals Arsenal, who have also been linked with the player's signature in recent time.
The Gunners - much like United - have struggled defensively of late, and could do with improving their back-line in January. Schar, at 22-years-old, would certainly prove a major coup for the north London outfit, but it remains to be seen as to whether he'd be interested in a move to England anytime soon.

Arsenal fans will certainly be hoping their club improve in the defensive area in January, with the club also in need of a defensive-midfielder.
Manchester United fans, meanwhile, may well feel indifferent by the prospect of Vidic returning to the club. The Serbian is, without a doubt, a legend at Old Trafford, but at 33-years-old appears to be past his best.
The Red Devils, though, appear to be in need of some leadership at the back, with a number of their defenders struggling to find top form. United's centre-backs have also struggled to keep their fitness throughout the campaign so far, with the likes of Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo all having spells on the sidelines.
