Derrick Rose has had a terrible time with injuries over the past few seasons, not only hindering the present chances of the Chicago Bulls but also the future career of the electrifying point guard.

The Most Valuable Player of the 2011 season has watched two seasons completely wash away due to excruciating injuries, due to the unstable nature of sport Rose has began to contemplate his long term health more seriously.

Rose is believed to back to full fitness after another year was snatched away from him through a knee injury, he shows glimpses of the MVP calibre player that we were treated to in 2011 but the 26-year-old will often take games off in the heavy schedule to preserve his body.

Rose also understands that Bulls fans were spoiled with success in the 90's with Michael Jordan, but since the greatest of all time treated them to six Larry O'Brien trophy's the Windy City has been starved of glory.

It is why Rose does not blame fans for their despondent attitude to his injury situation, he understands they are frustrated when he takes time off but he wants them to realise that he's thinking about his future when he does so.

The Bulls a contender

This season so far has not been without minor setbacks for the point guard, ankle injuries have already sidelined him for the early parts of the campaign.

When he has been on the floor, Rose has certainly made the Bulls a true championship contender, his contribution has been in the way of 17.5 points, 5.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.

When analysts and experts are given the task of choosing the eventually finalists for the NBA title, most of their answers are with the pretence "If Rose stays healthy" thats how big an impact the point guard has on the entire league.

The Bulls have surrounded him with an incredible roster which takes a lot of pressure off the young man's shoulders, the addition of Pau Gasol to a roster that already boasts the reigning Defensive player of the year in Joakim Noah has made Chicago a formidable team in the East, a championship is a legitimate aspiration this year.
