Football News

Hi I’m Mick Le Mare and this is GW News from the Turkish Airline Open at the Montgomerie MaxxRoyal Golf club on the Mediterranean coast line. The players have all arrived from last week in China and are looking forward to finishing the year in style

Henrik Stenson -

Yeah I think at this time everyone is looking forward to the end of the year but we have still got some big tournaments ahead we have this week here and then next week in Dubai so I am trying to pick up some form here and give myself a chance to defend my title in Dubai next week. I think you are never more than a week away from a great week and my game feels like it is decent shape so yeah I will try my best.

Yeah I am playing fairly consistently at the moment just a couple more things just a little bit better didn’t hole enough putts last week at the world golf championship and need to keep those out I think the longest putt I holed was about twelve feet and there was only about so that’s not good enough and will have to be better this week.

I just played 18 today I mean this course as been phenomenal and the setting is couldn’t be better and it looks like the weather is going to be good all week so it should be a good test

31 one time winner and course designer here at the MaxxRoyal Colin Montgomerie will be starting his 600th European Tour event tomorrow. A statue by the first tee was revealed yesterday in his honour and afterwards I spoke to Monty about the achievement

Colin Montgomerie -

Delighted it is a milestone of course very few Europeans reach this milestone and it proves that you have been lucky enough to be healthy and to have walked a hell of a long way unfortunately I think it is round the world and back to Singapore so I am half way round again and it is a long way but it is a milestone that I am very proud to have achieved. It is a really proud moment at my sixth hundredth tournament and you have to pinch me to be playing at a course I designed in Turkey and very proud to have this event here the final four series and to have one of the big events on the European tour here at this course is great everyone seems to speak highly of it which is great and a lot of the people have returned which is always good, repetitive business is always good at the same time it is a great honour and I do hope the course stands up the way it did last year.

That’s all for today, join us again tomorrow for final build up to the start of this event, in the meantime you can see more at and we are on Facebook twitter and Instagram
