His debut was one of the biggest and most hyped in WWE history and his theme tune and dance became a worldwide phenomenon, but could Fandango be set to be shelved?
Fandango has gone from defeating Chris Jericho in his first ever Wrestlemania match last year, to being stuck in a love triangle and losing to up and coming superstars like Adam Rose.
After weeks off TV Fandango took part in an interview with the Liverpool Echo this week where he dropped a few hints on what the future might hold.
He said: "I've been off TV for a little while, but I think in the next few weeks there will be a new Fandango coming back," he continued. "It's definitely going to be refreshing and a lot different than what you've seen before, so stay tuned. It will be very interesting."
This is good news given the recent releases of The Great Khali and Brad Maddox and the fact that many more are to come, meaning almost every superstar who isn't active on the roster could be the next to be axed.
- CM Punk could return before WrestleMania, says Fandango
- WWE star Fandango is an Everton fan
- WWE officials worried about Fandango's health
Fandango's dancing character became rather old pretty fast, so WWE repackaging him and allowing him to re-debut would be the best option, but Fandango could just be talking about being in a new frame of mind and hopefully heading for a title run, or at least for him to go after a title, because he is still yet to win anything after being in WWE for almost two years.
What could Fandango come back as that hasn't already been done? And will WWE turn him heel? After the love triangle story between himself Summer Rae and Layla fizzled out, it seemed Fandango took a back seat as the two divas continued to tag team together as a sort of new version of LayCool.
But Fandango has been seen lately but only as a jobber or as part of a dark match, and for someone with his ability, this is quite a shocking development because he has all the attributes to be a champion one day and all he really needs now is a decent storyline to latch onto and to all the WWE Universe to involve themselves in it.
WWE are always in the media for making the wrong decisions with wrestlers, like The Great Khali and the way they ruined his career essentially. Thankfully this doesn't seem to be the case for Fandango and hopefully a name change will come with his new character.
